For younger children, choose soap and candle making methods that don't involve using dangerous chemicals, such as lye solutions, or heating up wax. Easy methods of candle making for children involve only the use of wax crystals or beeswax so no heat is required. Older children will need the help of an adult to melt wax or soap base, but as long as they understand the safety aspects of soap and candle making, should be able to go it alone after a bit of practice.
